A SunDry Diaper/Baby Changing Mat is a necessary piece of baby equipment. It helps to prevent diaper leaks from spilling over the changing area. The mat thus provides an ideal location for changing your baby’s diaper without worrying about soiling various surfaces.

SunDry Baby Changing Mat protects your baby from dirty surfaces. The mat provides little ones with an ultra-soft, cozy surface to get changed on.
Bounded edges securely fit around the mat for a smooth, tight finish.

Find the perfect changing mat from an assortment of fabrics, colors, and patterns. At/on Canagoza, you can choose a fun diaper changing mat pattern with adorable prints that will make your cutie smile!

Diaper changing Tips

Choose a good Location
You always want to have a well-designated spot for diaper changes. In other words, try to do the diaper changes at the same spot each time (Griffin, 2015).

Why? If you are throwing down a diaper changing mat and doing diaper changes anywhere in the house, you could be spreading germs (Griffin, 2015).

If possible, set up a changing station close to the bathroom. That way, you are close to the sink (Griffin, 2015).
Be prepared
You should always start a diaper change with everything you need. If you have to jump up in the middle of a diaper change to open a cabinet and grab wipes or a tube of ointment, you are increasing the odds that you are spreading germs around the house. For this reason, make sure you have everything you need.
Wipe carefully
Wipe using a reusable First Bamboo Baby Wipe or disposable DryBamboo Baby Wipes from Canagoza. With a girl, always wipe from front to back to prevent infections.

Although that is not an issue with a boy, you should always put a cloth over his genitals to prevent a spray of urine during the diaper change.
Roll up the Diaper carefully
Yes, it is not always easy, especially if your child is crying and kicking you in the jaw. Nevertheless, if you can roll up the diaper, you will have a ball that is less germ-free on the outside.
Get a PeeGuard Wet/Dry Bag or PeeGuard Wet Bag
Diaper wet/dry or wet bags can also reduce the spread of germs because of the way they are designed (Conroy, 2015).
Use Distractions
Changing a restless baby can be a real struggle. It is also less likely to be sanitary; if you are wrestling with your toddler and rushing to pull off the dirty diaper, you are more likely to be spreading germs.

Hence, if your baby is restless, have distractions ready. Keep a couple of toys up on/close to the changing station that you can use to divert his or her attention. Just a couple of extra seconds may be enough (Griffin, 2015).

Once the diaper change is over, make sure to wash off or disinfect the toys (Griffin, 2015).
Double check
During diaper changes, a baby’s waving hands -- and especially feet -- have the unfortunate tendency to land in poop. After he or she has changed, but before he or she is dressed, make sure the baby is still clean.
Wash off your Baby’s Hands
Whether or not you have actually seen your baby touch anything nasty during the diaper change, it is still a good idea to wash his or her hands once you are done. Washing with soap and slightly warm water is the best way to get his or her hands clean (Conroy, 2015).

Dry his or her hands using a clean and dry First Bamboo Baby Wipe (Conroy, 2015).
Wash your own Hands right away
Wash the SunDry Baby Changing Mat and PeeGuard Wet/Dry or Wet Bag regularly
Changing mats can get dirty quickly. Get in the habit of washing yours routinely -- and change it right away if it is stained (Griffin, 2015).

Clean the PeeGuard Wet/Dry Bag or PeeGuard Wet Bag regularly as well -- inside and outside (Griffin, 2015).

Washing SunDry Baby Changing Mats

Changing mats are easily washed with cloth diapers or alone. Wash using cool water with little detergent.

Please do not use fabric softeners, wash in warm water, or bleach. Additionally, do not dry the mat/s using a machine (dryer). Instead, after washing the mat using a mild (gentle) detergent and rinsing it using cool water, dry it outside in the sun.

More specifically, choose a mild (gentle) detergent that does not contain any of the following additives:

(i) Fabric softeners,
(ii) Perfumes,
(iii) Whiteners,
(iv) Dyes,
(v) Ultraviolet (UV) or optical brighteners,
(vi) Stain guard ingredients,
(vii) Oxygen-based bleaching agents,
(viii) Enzymes, and
(ix) Other fabric enhancers or anything scented (Bummies Quebec Canada, n.d.).

The above additives can cause skin sensitivities, premature wear of your changing mat(s), and other issues (Bummies Quebec Canada, n.d.).
Please note: There are some SunDry Baby Changing Mats without piping (an extra fabric layer that hides the TPU). While drying such mats on a clothesline, please never ever fasten a clothes peg(s) on the inner part of the mat (the TPU), as this action will damage the TPU.

Instead, secure the peg(s) on the top/solid color/printed part of the mat. A peg with a steel spring (coiled fulcrum) is highly recommended.

Drying the mat on a drying rack or clothes hanger (without using pegs) is also recommended.

Avoid applying any other form of excessive force on both sides of the changing mat to prevent damaging of the TPU.
